My gender has nothing to do with my sexuality. I agree with this. Furthermore, I get trashed on by gay and bisexual identified people all the time. How can people who are fighting for their own rights and acceptance, deny it to others?
I love this & have been saying things like this for years, but lets not leave out genderqueer, genderfluid, non-gender people as well as All Trans* folk!
A lot of the of the Cis LGAB community can be very transmisogynistic & also gender & being Trans* has NOTHING to do with sexuality. But we also need to add a “P” to LGAB for Pansexual, cause if not that’s like saying only two genders exists. We all know that’s not true.
So YES, Trans* people need our own movement!

Dealing with PRIDE at work and how the HRC operates makes this all to apparent. Basically the T and to an extent the B are in LGBT as consolation prizes.

Rescue Parent

now. i can’t just look away.
So I oft find myself in a position to help people except I’ve noticed something about myself: the help I give is more akin to rescuing. Rescuing you may question, as if it is supposed to be a virtuous thing. It can be but it can also be dangerous. A parent that rescues a child from trouble can at times overlook the fault of the child which actually hinders the child’s ability to deal with trouble. This becomes cyclic and eventually the child learns two things: they cannot be at fault and they can exploit the parent.
A few recent things in my life have made it obvious to me that I have been a rescuing parent to some members of my circle/trans community. I don’t want to rescue the people I mean to help any longer! I want to help them so that they NEVER need rescuing again. I also need to watch my back because there are just some individuals with a void that no-one can fill. Actual tragedy: broken individuals that break me because I can’t glue them back together.
Tomorrow my boyfriend is coming over. We both need to see each other right now.
